China-India border situation remains tense, 5 Indian youths have been released by China

The Chinese military has released five Indian youths detained in South Tibet on Saturday (12). The Indian government said the Chinese military handed over the five men in Arunachal Pradesh. The Indian side said the five were suspected of getting lost and wandering into a Chinese controlled area during a hunting trip. But Hu Xijin, editor-in-chief of the mainland government’s Global Times, said in a microblog post that the five men were Indian intelligence officers dressed as hunters.

Hu said the Indian side has been sending people across the border to spy on China from time to time as a means of encroaching on areas under Chinese control. The Chinese have warned and educated them, and will release them later.

The situation along the India-China border remains tense, with Indian media reporting that the Indian army has deployed additional troops and defensive forces on the southern and northern shores of Lake Bangon; Indian mountain combat units with expertise in high-altitude warfare have been deployed in the Ladakh region. India is maintaining a “maximum alert” status.

Reports indicate that Indian mountain combat forces are scattered in various locations, but the focus remains on the areas on both sides of Lake Bangkung. According to Indian officials, the movements of Chinese troops, vehicles, and new Chinese military fortifications can be seen on both the north and south shores of Lake Bangong, and heavily armed troops have been deployed in some locations.

At present, the focus of the conflict between the two armies remains Bangong Lake, while the situation in other border areas has not changed much. Indian officials have described the situation as one small fuse that could spiral out of control.

In addition, Indian media reported that three military personnel have recently died in car accidents, including a military vehicle carrying many people, Saturday (12) in Rajasthan state while traveling on a section of highway after a tire burst overturned, two officers were hospitalized, two other soldiers were injured.
