The laboratory of Huawei Technologies, a mainland Chinese telecommunications and cell phone company, caught fire on the afternoon of Sept. 25, but the publicity department of the Dongguan municipal party committee said the fire was at Huawei’s building and had nothing to do with the lab, and no one was killed or injured.
The building was not related to the lab, but was under renovation and construction, and was not in use, according to a microblog posting by the Dongguan Propaganda Department.
Huawei’s Songshan Lake base is the new headquarters for Huawei Terminals, a project with an investment of about 10 billion yuan to develop R&D, sales and value-added services for all terminals, including cell phones, according to the report.
