India Deploys Russian Tanks and Cold-Resistant Infantry Vehicles in Preparation for Battle on China-India Border

It has been almost five months since the conflict erupted on the border between India and India, but due to the delay in reaching a consensus at the negotiating table, the Indian military has prepared for a long war: not only have they deployed their main Russian tanks and cold-resistant infantry support vehicles in Ladakh, which is more than 4,400 meters above sea level, but they have also stocked up on logistics and general supplies.

According to the Free Press, the Indian military has deployed Russian-developed T-90 main battle tanks to the front line. According to the report, the Indian military has deployed two Russian T-72s and T-90s in the Ladakh region, as well as BMP-2s that can operate at -40 degrees Celsius, according to the Indian newspaper Economic Times.

According to the Indian media, winter weather conditions in Ladakh are very severe, with nighttime temperatures reaching as low as -35 degrees Celsius, accompanied by deadly cold winds.

The report refers to an interview with Arvind Kapoor, chief of staff of the XIV Corps, in which he said that although winter is approaching, the army is well prepared for it. Kapoor noted, “There is no doubt that the winter in Ladakh will be very harsh, but we have everything under control, fuel, oil, lubricants, warm clothing and heaters in stock.
