According to the website of the State Supervision Commission of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China, Liu Chuansheng, former secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Normal University, is suspected of serious disciplinary violations and has voluntarily surrendered to the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and State Supervision Commission for disciplinary investigation.
According to Caijing.com, Liu Chuansheng is the first known female ministerial-level senior official to voluntarily surrender since the 18th CPC National Congress. Liu Chuansheng, a woman born in Sichuan in December 1950, graduated from Tsinghua University’s automation department in 1975 and served as a teacher and deputy secretary of the league committee at Tsinghua University before serving at the State Education Commission, the China Education Press, the education office of the embassy in the United Kingdom and the education office of the embassy in the U.S. She was secretary of the party committee of Beijing Normal University from 2005 to 2016. At the time of his surrender, Liu Chuansheng had been out of office for five years.
