Indonesia’s president orders 1 million daily doses of vaccine

Indonesia continues to be hit by the Wuhan pneumonia (novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19) epidemic, with the number of confirmed cases exceeding 20,000 on a single day on the 24th, a record high for the country.

The president, Jokowi, recently visited a temporary vaccination station and mentioned that “by July, we will achieve the goal of one million doses of vaccination in a single day, and the number will be doubled in August”.

The Indonesian government sent a letter to all regional units on the 25th, pointing out that the restriction of residence is lifted and people can go to the nearest vaccination center to administer the vaccine, hoping that this will accelerate the progress of vaccination.

According to Worldometer data, the number of confirmed cases in Indonesia was 20,574 on a single day on the 24th, making Indonesia the 5th in the world in terms of the number of confirmed cases on a single day, behind only Brazil, India, Colombia and Argentina.

So far, 25.5 million people have received their first dose of the vaccine, and more than 13 million people have received two doses.
