Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group on Tuesday updated its official website under “Leadership Team – Board Members” to exclude the name of its founder Jack Ma from a list of 11 directors, including Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Zhang Yong, Executive Vice Chairman Cai Chongxin, and Director and Chief Financial Officer Wu Wei.
According to China’s Breaking News, Alibaba Group has not responded to inquiries about when exactly its website will be updated and where Jack Ma is located.
Jack Ma announced last September that he was stepping down as chairman of Alibaba’s board of directors, but said he would “not retire completely.
It is reported that, according to Alibaba’s partnership system, Jack Ma and Cai Chongxin are permanent partners, and the partners can nominate candidates for the board, and do not occupy the board seats according to the number of shares.
