Record number of new cases of new crowns per day worldwide

A record number of new confirmed cases of new coronavirus infections worldwide have been reported in a single day, and new restrictions are being put in place across much of Europe in an effort to halt further spread of the virus.

The number of confirmed new coronavirus infections worldwide topped 400,000 for the first time on Friday night, setting a new record for new confirmed cases in a single day, Reuters said.

Europe has become the center of a new outbreak of neocoronavirus in recent weeks, with one million new cases diagnosed about every nine days, and an average of 140,000 new cases diagnosed every day for the past week, accounting for 34 percent of new cases worldwide, more than three countries combined, India, Brazil and the United States, the report said.

About half of the new coronavirus cases diagnosed in Europe came from the United Kingdom, France, Russia, the Netherlands, and Spain. France averaged 19,425 new cases on a single day over a seven-day period, followed by the United Kingdom, Russia, Spain, and the Netherlands.

The surge in new coronary cases has forced some European countries to impose further restrictions, including school closures, in an effort to stop the continued spread of the virus.

According to the report, Latin America accounts for about 27 percent of the new coronavirus cases worldwide, followed by Asia and North America. The United States has seen a steady rise in new coronavirus cases since early September, with the highest total number of infections and deaths in the world.

India has only 69,000 confirmed cases per day this month, down from September and down 22% from its peak.
