Travelers will be able to present this vaccine certificate at border checks
EU countries have agreed on details related to vaccination, testing and recovery certificates for the vaccine against Neocon (CCA virus) across Europe, which will make travel easier afterwards. In addition, the EU also pledged this Friday to donate 100 million doses of Neocon vaccine to poorer countries by the end of 2021 at the latest to help them recover more quickly from the outbreak.
The Portuguese EU presidency announced in Brussels that the digital certificate is a two-dimensional code in the form of an anti-counterfeit certificate to make it easier for people to travel in Europe during the epidemic. EU member states and the EU Parliament agreed on Thursday to launch the digital vaccine certificate on July 1 this year. In addition to whether the vaccine has been administered, the certificate will contain three types of information, including test results and whether the person is a recovered person.
Agreement reached in time for summer travel season
Since the beginning of this year, the EU has been debating a travel certificate that would allow passage throughout Europe. But it is only now that agreement has been reached on the final details. There has been controversy over the extent to which EU countries can decide on their own to relax travel restrictions. The compromise now provides for no interference with the sovereignty of member states, but additional restrictions should be introduced only if needed, such as quarantine for those who test negative, have been vaccinated or have been cured.
Health Minister Spann said Germany expects to be able to launch this digital certificate by the end of June this year at the latest.
Travelers will be required to present the certificate at border checks
German Health Minister Jens Spahn said that Germany now expects to launch the digital certificate by the end of June this year at the latest. He added that the relevant application should be ready within the next few weeks. Vaccinated people will in future receive a certificate in the form of a QR code after vaccination, which they can scan and save to the app. In this way, travelers will be able to present this certificate at border checks.
Many EU countries already waive the obligation to enter the country for quarantine, for example, in Greece, only the completion of vaccination or proof of PCR testing not exceeding 72 hours is required. Austria and Italy also only require travelers to provide a negative new crown test result upon arrival.
We must vaccinate the world as soon as possible, said Prime Minister Mario Draghi of the Italian G20 presidency.
EU pledges to donate at least 100 million doses of vaccines by the end of the year
Also at the G20 meeting opening today, EC President Ursula von der Leyen joined the Italian Presidency’s Prime Minister Mario Draghi in announcing the vaccine donation, saying: “The EU team aims to donate by the end of 2021 at least 100 million doses of the new crown vaccine.” For his part, Draghi mentioned, “As we prepare for the next pandemic, the priority must be to ensure that together we overcome the current pandemic and we must vaccinate the world as soon as possible.”
