Recently, Guangdong, Guangxi, Jiangxi and other provinces and cities in southern China were hit by heavy rainfall, triggering floods, flooding, many cities were flooded, reproducing the “urban sea” mode. According to Chinese mainland media reports, from the evening of May 19 to the afternoon of 20, Shaoguan City, northern Guangdong Province, Qingyuan City, northern Qingyuan City, Zhaoqing Huaiji suffered heavy rainfall to heavy rainfall weather, of which Shaoguan Luyuan had a very heavy rainfall, some areas recorded 230 mm of rain. At present, all schools in Wujiang, Zhenjiang, Qujiang and Luyuan districts of Shaoguan are closed.

Affected by the heavy rain, Shaoguan’s urban areas were flooded in many places, and the phenomenon of river water backing up in some areas, leading to delays in some trains passing through Shaoguan. By the morning of the 20th, Shaoguan Luyuan, Qujiang, Nanxiong, Lechang, a total of four national and provincial roads 9 sections of traffic disruption due to landslides, flooding.

On May 20, Shaoguan torrential rain, many places were flooded, many vehicles only exposed windows, all schools closed.

According to the local official flood control agency, as of 6 p.m. on the 20th, Shaoguan had more than 16,000 people affected, more than 1,400 people had to be evacuated in an emergency, and more than 700 houses were damaged, nearly 4,300 hectares of crops were affected, and direct economic losses reached 960 million yuan.

During the 19th to 20th, Qingyuan City and its county-level city Lianzhou in Guangdong Province were also hit by heavy rainfall, which triggered flash floods and flooded the streets of the city.

Jiangxi Province has also suffered continuous heavy rainfall in recent days. According to the news released by the Emergency Management Department of Jiangxi Province, as of 10 p.m. on the 20th, 102,000 people have been affected by heavy rainfall and flooding in Pingxiang, Xinyu, Ji’an, Yichun, Ganzhou, Shangrao, Fuzhou and 26 counties under the province, and 4,023 people have been transferred to emergency shelters, with a direct economic loss of 100 million yuan.

Hezhou City in Guangxi has also had heavy rainfall since Wednesday night, with rainfall exceeding 100 mm in several places in Hezhou as of 4 p.m. Thursday, with 182.5 mm in Liji Village, Walking Horse Town, Zhaoping County. The disaster situation is still being counted.

According to the news released by Jiangxi Provincial Hydrological Monitoring Center, due to the impact of continuous heavy rainfall, at 22:00 on May 20, the water level of Ganjiang River Ji’an Hydrological Station rose to 50.5 meters, and the No. 1 flood of Ganjiang River this year has formed in the middle reaches.

Jiangxi Provincial Meteorological Station at 14:00 on May 21 again issued a blue warning signal of heavy rain, referring to the next 12 hours, Pingxiang, Xinyu, Yingtan three cities, Yichun, Nanchang, Shangrao’s southern areas, and the northern areas of Ji’an, Fuzhou, there will also be heavy to torrential weather.

A person in charge of the Jiangxi Provincial Meteorological Station said in response to inquiries from the land media that Jiangxi Province is expected to experience three more significant precipitation processes, accompanied by thunder and lightning, short-term heavy precipitation, local thunderstorms and high winds and other strong convective weather during the three time periods from May 20 to 24, around 26, and 29 to 30.

In addition, at 16:00 on May 20, Weihui City, Xinxiang City, Henan Province, was also hit by sudden storms and hail.
