Oil pipe clear official announcement: monetization of social justice content anti-black content will be yellow label

The Tubes released a statement last month acknowledging that “videos on topics such as Black Lives Matter, Black culture and Black excellence, as well as topics related to broad social justice issues, are indeed monetized on The Tubes.”

In a statement, The Tubes said that ads with hateful terms are not allowed. Videos that hate black and other marginalized communities, including those featuring “white nationalism” or other offensive videos, are not only ineligible to make money on the Tube (and will be yellow-tagged), but must be removed if found.

Advertisers enter a search term, and the Tubelight ad tool lists videos that match the search term. The author of the posted video enters the search term, and the Grease tool will also indicate which search terms will be yellow tagged. There are times, however, when the Tubelight ad placement tool blocks non-hate, or non-harmful terms as well, because Tubelight has detected the misuse of these search terms. The Tubes also temporarily blocks search terms that seem counterintuitive.

The Tubes concludes by stating that Black creators and artists, have played and will continue to play an important role in shaping the culture of The Tubes and moving the platform forward. The Tubes wants to invest in these creators, artists and their stories and continue to ensure that they can succeed on The Tubes.
