Wang Like, a member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission, is suspected of serious disciplinary violations and is currently under review and investigation.
The news was announced by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the State Supervision Commission of China on their websites recently. However, the message does not specify the specific manifestations of the violation of discipline and law.
According to China’s Pharmaceutics.com, Wang Like is the 17th mid-career cadre to be investigated this year. The so-called mid-career cadres are cadres on record with the Organization Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, who are appointed and removed by the CPC Central Committee, usually at the vice-ministerial level or above.
In 2015, Wang was appointed to the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee.
The report also noted that the website of the National Supervisory Commission of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection announced last week that a number of cadres had voluntarily surrendered to the police, including Chen Chang, president of the Yuxi Intermediate People’s Court in Yunnan Province, Chen Minghua, president of the Yangquan Intermediate People’s Court in Shanxi Province, Xu Miao, a member of the Standing Committee and deputy mayor of Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, and Sun Jinbo, former deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Baoding Municipal People’s Congress in Hebei Province.
