The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force (HCTF) has been investigating a case of assault involving a Chinese-American victim at Hell’s Kitchen in midtown Manhattan. (Go back to China) and then bit him in the mouth; the NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force has been involved in the investigation.
Police said that at about 9:30 a.m. on the day of the incident, a 48-year-old Chinese man was yelled at by an African-American man walking down the street near West 43rd Street and 11th Avenue, saying “Go back to China! He then began to physically assault the victim and bit him on the left hand as he fled the scene.
City police arrived at the scene and took the injured man to Roosevelt Hospital (St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital) for treatment of injuries to his hand, face and head, and he is in stable condition.
The suspect fled the scene quickly after the crime; according to witnesses, the suspect is dark-skinned, about 40 years old, and was last seen topless with jeans sneakers and a sweatshirt in his hand.
The suspect was last seen naked with jeans and sneakers underneath, holding a sweatshirt. The crime took place in the vicinity of where a 31-year-old Chinese woman was previously hit on the head with a mallet by an African-American woman.
