The Central Epidemic Command Center announced that there were 245 new confirmed cases in Taiwan on the 18th, including 240 local cases and 5 imported cases from abroad, and 2 new deaths among the confirmed cases (Case 1522 and Case 2095). The command center announced that schools at all levels will be closed from tomorrow until May 28 because the number of local cases exceeded 100 for four consecutive days.
The Central News Agency reported that the command center said that today’s 240 new local cases are 112 male and 128 female cases, ranging in age from under 5 years old to over 90 years old, with the onset date/examination date between May 5 and May 17 this year (2021), with 106 cases in New Taipei City (33 cases in Zhonghe District), 102 cases in Taipei City (48 cases in Wanhua District), 12 cases in Taoyuan City, and 10 cases in Changhua County. 12 cases, 10 cases in Changhua County, 3 cases each in Keelung City and Kaohsiung City, 2 cases in Hsinchu County, and 1 case each in Hsinchu City and Yunlin County. Among them, there were 88 cases in Taipei Tea House, 67 cases in the activity history of Wanhua District, 2 cases in a group related to an association, 2 cases in an incense group, and 1 case in an amusement park in Yilan. There are 51 cases of unknown association of group gatherings and 29 cases in the epidemic investigation. The investigation of the epidemic is ongoing.
The Command Center explained that the new deaths were Case 1522 and Case 2095, in which Case 1522 was a 60-year-old female working in Wanhua who developed a fever on May 10 and sought medical examination on May 14, and was diagnosed on May 16.
Case 2095 is a male inpatient in his 80s, with a history of chronic illness, tested positive for contact on the 16th, with a Ct value of about 25. 17 due to deterioration in condition, after emergency treatment, but unfortunately died, Taiwan has accumulated 14 cases of death.
The command center pointed out that today’s five new cases of foreign immigration, case 2071, case 2072 are Indonesian male fishermen in their 20s, entered the country from Indonesia on May 3, have a negative test report within 3 days before the flight, no symptoms during the arrival in Taiwan, in May 16 for quarantine testing before the expiration date, confirmed today. Case 2151 is a 30-year-old male of this nationality, who entered from Kyrgyzstan on May 16, with a negative test report within 3 days before the flight, and was screened positive on arrival, and was diagnosed today.
Case 2152 and case 2263 are both Filipino female migrant workers in their 30s, who entered the country from the Philippines on May 4, and both had negative test reports within 3 days prior to their flights, and had no symptoms during their arrival in Taiwan.
According to the Command Center, up to now, there are 261,389 cases of C.C.V. pneumonia-related notifications (including 244,409 cases of exclusion), of which 2,260 cases are confirmed, respectively 1,086 cases of foreign immigration, 1,121 local cases, 36 cases of ATC, 2 cases of aircraft infection, 1 case unknown and 14 cases under investigation, and the other 3 cases (case 530, case 1589, case The other 3 cases (Case 530, Case 1589, Case 1676) were removed as blank numbers. Among the confirmed cases, 14 cases died, 1,127 cases were released from quarantine, and 1,119 people are under quarantine.
