The National Pulse reported on May 17 that a church in China displayed books written by Communist Party leaders Xi Jinping and Mao Zedong in lieu of works such as the Bible.
A ChinaAid report noted that the bookstore at the Sha Mian Tang church in Guangzhou displayed several copies of Mao’s “Little Red Book” and Xi Jinping on the Governance of the Country, but the bookstore did not display any of the Gospels in its collection.
The Chinese-American writer posted a photo of the storefront with the text, “The Gospel Bookstore at the Sha Mian Church of Christ in Guangzhou has a large collection of Xi Jinping’s books. It really shocked me to see a photo like this on a Sunday morning.”
