U.S. Senator Rubio called on the Department of Defense to submit plans to take seriously the threat posed by unidentified flying objects. Schematic.
Unidentified flying object (UFO) incidents are a growing concern in the United States. U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said elected officials need to learn more about UFOs and take the threat they pose seriously. He wants the Defense Department to come up with a plan to take UFO incidents seriously.
In an interview on CBS’s “60 Minutes,” Rubio said some members of Congress are very interested in the topic of UFOs.
Rubio added that he would like to see the Defense Department come up with a UFO program and take the UFO incident seriously.
“I want us to have a program to analyze the data (about UFOs) that comes in every time.” Rubio said, “To have a place to catalog that data and keep analyzing it until we get some answers. Maybe there will be a very simple answer, maybe not.”
Rubio also noted that intelligence related to outer space is a matter of national security.
“Anything that gets into an airspace where it’s not supposed to be is a threat.” Rubio said.
The U.S. government reportedly plans to release a report on UFO sightings to Congress in June.
Former Navy Capt. Ryan Graves said on CBS’s “60 Minutes” that unidentified objects, such as those identified by the Pentagon and seen in Navy footage (taken) near San Diego, are a security threat.
Graves said UFOs have been flying in military-controlled airspace off the Virginia coast almost daily for two years beginning in 2019.
A former Defense Department official, Luis Elizondo, who has spent years studying unexplained aerial phenomena, said the technology of the craft is far beyond human.
