In addition, Taipei City and New Taipei City also announced on Monday that public and private high schools, junior high schools, kindergartens, tutorial classes and after-school care centers will be closed from May 18 to 28, and no school will be open for distance learning. Families with children under the age of 12 or children with physical or mental disabilities under the National High School who need care can take “epidemic prevention and care leave” and employers should grant the leave; however, it is not mandatory for employers to pay salaries and can be negotiated by both employers and employees.

According to figures from Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Center, there were 335 new confirmed cases of Newcastle pneumonia on Monday, a record high, 333 locally and 2 imported from abroad.
