Democratic Chairman of House Committee Calls for Investigation into Origin of Communist Virus, Considers “All Hypotheses”

The National Pulse reported on May 16 that Democratic U.S. Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) called for an investigation into the origins of the Chinese Communist virus, considering “every hypothesis available.

The Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee chairman issued the following statement, “I commend Dr. David Relman of Stanford University and 17 other respected Dr. David Relman of Stanford University and 17 other respected scientists for their open letter in Science calling for a transparent, objective, and data-driven investigation into the origins of the Chinese Communist virus. In order to crush the CCP virus and prevent future global pandemics, we must consider every hypothesis available and have nonpartisan, independent scientific experts conduct investigations. I stand ready to support the Biden administration and our international partners in such an investigation into the origins of the CCP virus.”

Among Science’s signatories are professors from institutions including Harvard, Stanford and Yale. The letter was also signed by Dr. Ralph Baric, whose gain-of-function research record and relationship with the Wuhan Virus Institute was recently discussed in an exchange between Dr. Fauci and Senator Paul.

The day before this letter was sent, National Pulse also found a meeting featuring gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virus, attended by a number of researchers funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Among them was the originator of the letter, Dr. Lehrman.
