Three people were killed and four others injured in a shooting in Birmingham, Alabama, on May 16, the suspect was killed by police.
According to Fox News affiliate WBRC, Birmingham police Sgt. Rodarius Mauldin confirmed Sunday afternoon that four officers were injured when a man opened fire on them while they were serving an arrest warrant.
Two officers were shot and injured, but their lives were not in danger. Two other officers were grazed by stray bullets. They are expected to make a full recovery. All of the injured officers are currently in the hospital for treatment. All four officers are from the Birmingham Police Department’s Tactical Unit.
Sgt. Mauldin said it all started happening at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 16.
Police received a call that two people had been shot in Brother Bryan Park, 1000 Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. One man was shot and died at the scene. A woman was lying in the driveway with a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital where she died.
Investigators said they received information that the murder involved an earlier altercation over a dog.
Following the incident, police launched a manhunt for the suspect in the shooting and an exchange of gunfire occurred.
Local police are continuing to investigate the case.
