Northeast China loses more than 10 million people, 12 provinces have deeply aging populations

According to the seventh census data released by the Communist Party of China, the total population of China is distributed, and among the 31 provinces, the provinces with a population of more than 100 million are Guangdong and Shandong. Guangdong has a population of 126,012,510, Shandong 101,527,453, and Henan ranks third with 99,365,519.

According to official Communist Party data, China’s eastern region has a population of 563,717,119, or 39.93 percent, up 2.15 percentage points; the central region has a population of 364,694,362, or 25.83 percent, down 0.79 percentage points; and the western region has a population of 382,852,295, or 27.12 percent, up 0.22 percentage points. .

The population of the northeast region is 98,514,948, or less than 100 million, accounting for 6.98%, which is 11.01 million less than 10 years ago, a decrease of 1.20 percentage points, and is also the region with the largest decrease in the proportion of population. Among them, Heilongjiang has a population of 31,850,088, down by more than 6.46 million from 38,312,224 10 years ago, and is the province that has lost the most people.

China’s 12 provinces have deeply aging populations

Official data from the Communist Party of China show that Tibet has the highest proportion of population aged 0-14 years at 24.53%, and the lowest proportion of population aged 60 years and above at 8.52%; except for Tibet (5.67%), the proportion of elderly population aged 65 years and above in all other 30 provinces exceeds 7%, generally entering aging.

The proportion of population aged 60 and above in Liaoning is 25.72%, the highest in China. The proportion of population aged 65 and above is 17.42%, which is also the highest in China.

According to the internationally accepted classification standard, when the proportion of population aged 65 and above in a country or region exceeds 7%, it means entering aging; reaching 14%, it is deep aging; exceeding 20%, it is entering a super-aging society. Therefore, Liaoning is already super-aging.

Currently, 12 provinces in China are in the stage of deep aging, namely Liaoning, Chongqing, Sichuan, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Shandong, Anhui, Hunan, Tianjin and Hubei.
