According to a report cited by the Central News Agency today, WHO says that the elderly are the group with the highest annual rate of HIV infection in China. According to the WHO WeChat, a public health ministry, a message about AIDS in China was released today in Chinese, mentioning the above. The message states that 60% of Chinese men over the age of 60 who are infected with HIV admit to having been infected through commercial sex. According to the WHO message, 37,000 new cases of HIV infection will be diagnosed in China in 2019 among men aged 60 and older, which translates to more than 100 cases per day. This compares to 150,000 new HIV infections reported in China in the same year, or nearly 25% of the total.

According to this information, of the 37,000 cases of HIV infection in China, 28,700 were among men over the age of 60, resulting in a male to female ratio of 77% to 23%. These 28,700 men over 60 years of age represent a 500% increase in the number of infected men compared to 2010.

According to the WHO, 60% of those over 60 years of age claimed to have been infected through commercial sex, while 30% claimed to have been infected through non-commercial sex, including sexual encounters and one-night stands.
