A shooting at an elementary school in Kazan, the capital of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, has led to the arrest of the 19-year-old gunman, who is now known to have killed 11 people and sent dozens of others to the hospital with injuries. The police mentioned that a loud explosion was heard at the time of the incident, and unexploded bombs were found in the school afterwards. According to the video circulating on social media, some students jumped out of the window to escape the shooting, and two of them unfortunately died as a result. Some students pointed out in an interview that the principal had broadcasted at the time, asking all classrooms to close their doors.
According to media reports, Russian police arrested the 19-year-old gunman after arriving at the scene, but before that eight eighth-graders and a teacher had unfortunately died by his gun, in addition, two students died while jumping out of windows.
According to a video circulated on social media, a large number of vehicles from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation were parked outside the school, and many people rushed to the building, screaming and shouting of students were mixed together at the scene.
Students interviewed with palpitations said that they heard an explosion and a minute later they heard gunshots; another student said that he was in a history class on the 3rd floor and suddenly heard the principal shouting on the radio during the course, asking all classroom personnel to close the door, and after the teacher closed the door, he heard a loud explosion. The student went on to say that no one opened the door at that time, but only heard violent knocking outside, as if someone was trying to knock the door open, and after some more time, they heard the police shouting for them to open the door, and when they opened the door, a fireman came in and took them away.
This incident has caused 11 deaths in addition to many injuries, some media said that 32 students are currently being treated in hospital, the media pointed out that six people are in a dangerous condition. It is reported that the shooter has a registered gun certificate, the police are investigating his motive.
