The “Halloween All-Time Blue Moon” debuts today, and the next one won’t be until 2039!

Every year, October 31 is celebrated as “Halloween” in the West, and this year, in particular, it coincides with the “Blue Moon”. According to the media, the last time there was a full time blue moon on Halloween was in 1944 during World War II, and the next time will probably be in 2039.

According to the Daily Mail, before 1946, a “blue moon” was defined as the 13th full moon in a year (old definition), then the 2nd full moon in a month (new definition after 1946), and usually 7 blue moons in 19 years.

The last time it happened was 13 years ago, and the next will be in 2039; this Halloween is not only a “Blue Moon” but also an “All-Time Blue Moon”, which means that the Blue Moon covers all time zones around the world for the second time since 1944.

According to the U.S. space agency NASA, the full moon that occurs in October is often called the “Harvest Moon” because it coincides with the fall harvest, and after the fields are harvested, it is easier for people to hunt and gather animals to store food for the winter, so it is also called the “Hunter’s Moon”.
