School shooting in Kazan, Russia, kills many schoolchildren

According to several Russian news agencies, as well as the more credible and well-sourced instant messaging software Telegram, two shooters were involved in Tuesday morning’s school shooting, and the police operation is now over, as the younger of the shooters; 17 years old, has been brought under police control, and the older one, 19 years old, has been arrested.

The media, especially the local ones, are waiting for a psychological portrait of the shooter, especially of the older shooter, the 19-year-old who registered his personal account on telegram this morning before the shooting, posting a picture of himself fully dressed and explaining what he was going to do, what he was preparing to do. The shooting took place in Kazan, a thousand kilometers east of Moscow, a region called the Autonomous Republic of Tatarstan, relatively wealthy, an oil-producing region and, according to different estimates, the third or fourth largest city in Russia, with a population of over a million. It is a relatively modern city that is not used to such violence. This is what we know so far about today’s shootings.
