Iowa polls lead in U.S. election, CNN nervous: Trump fears reversal of victory

A new poll released on January 1 by Iowa’s leading newspaper, The Des Moines Register, and Selzer and Co. shows President Trump leading his Democratic opponent Biden by a 48% to 41% margin in the state. In response, the decidedly anti-Trump CNN reminded viewers that this poll shows that Trump, currently trailing in other polls, could stage a reversal of victory!

CNN pointed out that the key to the Scherzer polling that frightens Democrats and gives hope to Trump supporters is the company’s polling history. four years ago, Scherzer’s exit poll showed Trump leading his Democratic opponent Hillary in Iowa by seven points, with the final results showing a nine-point victory for Trump.

Although Biden does not have to take Iowa to win a majority of the 270 electoral votes, if Biden wins Iowa, he will not have to take the state. But if Biden doesn’t do much better in Iowa than Hillary did four years ago, then Democrats may have to worry that he won’t do much better in other states either.

CNN admits that Trump could win Iowa by a wide margin, which could signal trouble for Biden in other states as well, such as key Midwestern battlegrounds like Michigan and Wisconsin.
