The Japanese Self-Defense Forces, U.S. and French forces are scheduled to hold a joint military exercise in Kyushu, Japan, from 11 to 17, the first time French forces have participated in the exercise in Japan. Two French navy ships have entered the port of Sasebo in Nagasaki Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan on Sunday morning.
According to the Central News Agency quoted Japan’s “Nagasaki Broadcasting” news, the French Navy amphibious assault ship Tonar and patrol ship Sulcuf 9 berth in Sasebo port in Nagasaki Prefecture, to participate in the Japan, the United States and France 3 joint military exercises scheduled for tomorrow 11 to 17 in Kyushu, Japan, this is the first time the French military to participate in the training in Japan.
According to the report, the Tonar is about 200 meters long, can carry up to 18 helicopters, is playing the role of the core of amphibious operations warships. The two French warships will participate in the joint military exercises of the United States, Japan and France held in Kyushu Island and surrounding waters from 11 onwards.
As Nagasaki Prefecture is currently 2019 coronavirus disease epidemic expansion, the officers and men of the 2 French warships will stay in the Self Defense Force base, will not eat in Sasebo City’s restaurants.
The report said that during the 3-nation joint military exercises, French officers and soldiers may be in Sasebo City Aura garrison and Japan’s Land Self-Defense Force’s amphibious mobile corps for training.
