Italian woman hospitalized for observation after 6 doses of Pfizer vaccine at once

An Italian woman is currently under observation in hospital after a nurse accidentally administered a full vial of Pfizer-BNT Wuhan pneumonia (novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19), the equivalent of six doses.

According to foreign media reports, a 23-year-old woman from Tuscany, Italy, went to the hospital on the 9th of this month to receive the Pfizer vaccine. The nurse was supposed to give the woman a single dose of the vaccine, but it was mistakenly filled into a bottle, equivalent to six doses, and injected into the woman’s body.

The woman is currently being hospitalized for observation and is doing well after an IV and acetaminophen (paracetamol).

In fact, in the past, including the United States, Australia, Germany and Israel have also been notified of overdoses of Pfizer vaccines, but in the past, studies on “overdoses” of Pfizer vaccines were only 4 doses at most, and this incident was immediately notified to the Italian drug regulatory authorities.
