What is the inner volume
Once upon a time, there was a small town on Earth. There were many shoe stores in the town. These shoe stores opened at 10:00 a.m., took a lunch break from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., and continued to operate from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; they were open 5 days a week from Monday to Friday and closed on weekends.
During the hottest days of summer, the shoe store owners would close their stores and go to the beach in the south for vacation; during the coldest days of winter, the shoe store owners would also close their stores and go to the mountains in the north for skiing.
For many years, the resident population in the town did not change much, the quality of shoes was always excellent and the supply was stable, so the supply and demand of shoes in the town was always in a near-perfect balance.
Then one day, a family moved from the big city to the town for unknown reasons and opened a shoe store as well. Although the town was small, it was of a certain size, and the balance of supply and demand for shoes was not broken by the addition of a shoe store.
However, the people of that big city are known for their hard work and ability to work hard. Sure enough, this family from the big city had those same characteristics. Their shoe store opened at 7 a.m. every morning, they didn’t take a lunch break at noon, and they didn’t close until 11 p.m.; they were open normally on weekends, and they never went on vacation in summer or winter.
Gradually, their “hard work” paid off, and the business of their shoe store was significantly better than other shoe stores in the town. In the past, the people of the town could not buy shoes after dinner, but now, they can go to the shoe stores of the big city people to buy shoes almost anytime, and there is little need to patronize other shoe stores.
But the small town bosses are not defeated, they have followed the example of the big city people’s work schedule, working 7 days a week and 16 hours a day. Their “hard work” was “rewarded”: their business income returned to its previous state.
So, how did life in the town change at this point? Since the population of the town did not increase, the demand for shoes remained constant, just as before, so the final revenue of each shoe store did not change and did not increase. But the business hours have changed from 5 days a week, 6 hours a day to 7 days a week, 16 hours a day.
In other words, their working hours have become longer, but their income has not increased.
This is the legendary in-roll.
