U.S. Military Equipment Sold as Scrap as Troops Withdraw from Afghanistan
After nearly 20 years in Afghanistan, U.S. troops are being withdrawn from the country. The entire withdrawal operation will be completed by Sept. 11 of this year. The withdrawal process, those sensitive equipment was shipped back to the United States, some were handed over to the Afghan government forces, while some were dismantled and destroyed into scrap. The practice is intended to prevent militants from obtaining the equipment and reusing it, but local Afghans are angry about the move, especially those who have sold scrap for a living.
