Female student hospitalized for 6 doses of Pfizer vaccine in one injection

The Italian news agency AGI reported today that a 23-year-old schoolgirl in Tuscany has been hospitalized for observation after being mistakenly given six doses of Pfizer & BNT vaccine in a single injection.

Agence France-Presse reports that the student received fluids and antipyretic medication after receiving the vaccine on the 9th and is doing well.

The nurse was supposed to give the student a dose of the vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, but mistakenly injected the entire vial of vaccine into her arm, the equivalent of six doses.

Agence France-Presse reports that previous studies testing Pfizer vaccine overdoses in the U.S. were limited to four doses or less.

The incident was reported to the Italian drug regulator.

Overdoses of Pfizer & BNT vaccines have been reported in the United States, Australia, Germany and Israel.
