British mystery man bets $5 million on Trump to win election

On the occasion of the U.S. presidential election, a mystery British businessman is throwing $5 million at President Donald Trump to win re-election, in what is believed to be the biggest bet on politics in history. According to British media, the mystery gambler is not the only person to suddenly bet on Trump at the last minute. Ladbrokes Plc noted that 3/4 of all bets in the final week of the election campaign were on Trump.

According to a report today by the Central News Agency, the largest political bet in history, a mystery gambler in the United Kingdom dropped $5 million on Trump. The report cites The Sun, a wealthy former banker living abroad who is taking a chance on the U.S. presidential election on March 3 through a private gaming operator registered on the Caribbean island of Curacao.

According to a friend of the former banker, he sought the advice of “insiders in Trump’s election camp” before making the high-stakes bet, which could see him take home a check for nearly $15 million. A gaming industry source told the Sun: “Word is spreading about this bet, and we think it’s the biggest bet on politics in history.

The mystery gambler wasn’t the only person to suddenly bet on Trump at the last minute. Ladbrokes Plc noted that 3/4 of all bets made in the final week of the campaign were on Trump.

The report said that the Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is undoubtedly still the gaming industry’s preferred candidate as the American people vote for president on the 3rd.

According to the British online gaming platform Betfair Exchange, an unnamed person in the United Kingdom placed a £1 million ($1.29 million) bet on Biden’s victory last weekend. If Biden wins the fierce election battle against Trump, the wagerer will hold back $1,896,903. BHP noted that $337 million has been wagered on the election.
