A bridge under construction nearing completion in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, China, collapsed and fell into a river, with no casualties at the scene. The bridge was part of the Shaoxing urban section of the Hang Shaotai Expressway, the largest infrastructure ever built in the region, with a total investment of about RMB 36.84 billion, and was scheduled to be accepted by the end of June. The news sparked criticism of the tofu-dreg project on the Internet.
According to the Central News Agency today, China’s Zhejiang Shaoxing City, the largest infrastructure bridge ever collapsed on the 8th, the bridge fell into the river and buried a crane on the spot, no casualties at the scene. According to the Shaoxing Transportation Construction Company, at about 5:48 p.m. on the 8th, the arch bridge of the Hangzhou-Ningbo Canal under construction in Shaoxing City partially collapsed. No casualties at the scene, the cause is under investigation. The construction unit of this project is Jiangsu Province Traffic Engineering Group Co.
According to the film broadcast by Xinjing News, the collapsed bridge fell into the river and buried a crane on the spot.
According to public information, the Hang Shaotai Expressway is about 162.3 kilometers long, with a total investment of about RMB 36.84 billion is the largest infrastructure project ever undertaken in Shaoxing. Among them, Shaoxing urban section of about 28 kilometers, scheduled to complete construction operations at the end of May, the end of June to complete the delivery acceptance and open to traffic. Shaoxing city section is the latest section of the whole line to start, other sections have been opened to traffic.
