As of 10:00 GMT 8 (6:00 pm Taiwan 8), at least 3,272,332 people have died worldwide from Coronavirus Disease 2019 (CCP) (COVID-19) and at least 156.79 million 180 cases have been confirmed.
The outbreak began in China in December 2019, and the vast majority of those infected have recovered to date. However, some people continue to feel symptoms for weeks or even months after recovery.
These figures are based on daily statistics provided by national health authorities and do not include subsequent re-estimates from the statistical units of three countries – Russia, Spain and the United Kingdom – and are only a fraction of the actual total number of infections, as many mildly ill or asymptomatic patients remain undetected.
On the 7th of July, 13,882 new deaths and 844,761 confirmed cases were reported worldwide. According to the data, the countries with the highest number of new deaths were India (4,187), Brazil (2,165), and the United States (826), in that order.
The United States remains the country with the most severe epidemic, with a total of 580,901 deaths and 32,652,028 confirmed cases.
Other countries with severe outbreaks include Brazil (419,114 deaths and 1,582,449 confirmed cases), India (238,270 deaths and 21,892,676 confirmed cases), Mexico (218,657 deaths and 2,361,874 confirmed cases), and the United Kingdom (127,598 deaths and 4,430,1043 confirmed cases).
As a percentage of the population, Hungary had the highest mortality rate, with 294 deaths per 100,000 people, followed by the Czech Republic (277), Bosnia-Herzegovina (268), Montenegro (244) and North Macedonia (243).
Regionally, Europe had a total of 1,089,329 deaths and 51,366,755 confirmed cases; Latin America and the Caribbean had a total of 940,8402 deaths and 29,710,364 confirmed cases; the United States and Canada had a total of 605,417 deaths and 33,921,943 confirmed cases.
In Asia, there were 370,378 deaths and 29,105,996 confirmed cases; in the Middle East, there were 133,851 deaths and 8,021,585 confirmed cases; in Africa, there were 123,895 deaths and 4,619,579 confirmed cases; in Oceania, there were 1060 deaths and 43,967 confirmed cases.
