On May 7, Feng Weibin, deputy secretary general of the Guangdong Heyuan municipal government, is suspected of “serious disciplinary violations” and is currently under investigation.
Public information shows that Feng Weibin, 54, from April 2002, has served as the deputy mayor of Zijin County Government, the Standing Committee of the County Party Committee, the Minister of the Propaganda Department, the Minister of the Organization Department, the executive deputy mayor and the deputy secretary of the County Party Committee; since September 2015, he has served as a member of the party group and deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Bureau of Heyuan City; from September 2017 to his fall as deputy secretary general of Heyuan Municipal Government.
The official notice of the Chinese Communist Party did not mention the reason for Feng Weibin’s fall.
In recent years, a number of officials have fallen in Heyuan official circles.
On December 30, 2020, Ouyang Zanfeng, deputy secretary-general of the Hengyuan CPPCC, fell, and he was investigated after only 2 days in office. On the same day, Wu Haiqiang, vice chairman of the Hengyuan CPPCC, was also investigated.
In August 2019, Peng Dingbang, deputy secretary of the Heyuan Municipal Committee, fell.
In June 2019, Gou Minsheng, deputy secretary general of the Hengyuan CPPCC, former director of the Hengyuan Tourism Bureau and director of the Water Affairs Bureau, was investigated. Gu Minsheng stepped down after only three months in his new post.
In October 2018, Liang Guohua, former vice chairman of the Hengyuan CPPCC, was double-opened.
On June 19, 2017, the former mayor of Heyuan, Peng Jianwen, who had been transferred to the secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Bureau of Safety Supervision for less than a month, fell from his horse. 8 days later, Xie Chun-sen, then deputy mayor of Heyuan, was investigated. On August 25 of the same year, Li Yangda, former deputy mayor of Heyuan, fell from his post as deputy director of the Standing Committee of the municipal People’s Congress.
