The National Pulse reported on May 7 that the Facebook Oversight Committee decided to still suspend Trump on May 5, and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) tweeted a post calling for Facebook to permanently ban Trump. A picture read, “Facebook should permanently ban Trump. ” and the tweet read, “Retweet if you agree.”
On May 7, the tweet had nearly twice as many replies as the post had “likes” and “retweets,” a phenomenon known as “ratioing,” which usually indicates a widely unpopular tweet.
Among the responses, one user wrote, “I remember when the Democrats were critics of corporations and censorship, not their cheerleaders,” and “Thanks for the fascist perspective. One user wrote, “The First Amendment is for me, but not for you, a Democrat.” Another, who identified himself as a Democrat, insisted, “I disagree.”
