Under pressure from the Hong Kong SAR government, all three mainstream radio stations in Hong Kong have announced that they will play the national anthem in the morning. Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) announced plans to play the Chinese national anthem every morning at 8:00 a.m. on its broadcast channels starting from the 16th of this month.
Commercial Radio and Metro Radio also said today that they will play the anthem at 8 a.m. Commercial Radio and Metro Radio will play the anthem at 8 a.m. The anthem will be played in accordance with the established API mechanism. Metro Radio is tentatively scheduled to also broadcast the national anthem at 8 a.m. before the news bulletin, but the implementation date has not yet been determined.
A government spokesman said that after the National Anthem Ordinance comes into effect, licensed sound broadcasters will broadcast the anthem on their radio channels through the established sound track mechanism for government publicity. The spokesman supported that the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education under the Home Affairs Bureau has already produced a new series of television and radio APIs on the national anthem “to reflect the latest development of the country, including Hong Kong, in terms of content,” and the full launch is expected in mid-November.
In addition, the Education Bureau has issued a circular to primary and secondary schools, suggesting that they organize activities to promote the national anthem on December 4, 2012, which is National Constitution Day. The Education Bureau has not considered the actual situation, the number of school hours has been reduced and the school workload is heavy, but still ask schools to promote activities to promote the Constitution, questioning it as a political mission.
In December, students began to prepare for the revision exams, and most schools rarely arranged extracurricular activities.
The Honorary Chairman of the Association of Aided Primary School Principals, Mr. Zhang Yongbang, said that he would take it as a normal attitude.
