U.S. Army Academy freshmen hijack school bus carrying 18 children at gunpoint in hopes of returning home

A recruit at Fort Jackson Army Training Base in South Carolina, U.S., escaped Thursday (6), armed with a rifle hijacked an elementary school bus carrying 18 children and asked to go to a nearby town, and then drove the driver and children off the bus to drive themselves, they were unharmed, the suspect was finally caught. He will be charged with 19 counts of kidnapping, carjacking, and possession of a weapon.

At about 7 a.m., the 23-year-old suspect, Jovan Collazo, left the Army Academy wearing a physical training uniform and carrying a rifle, reportedly in his third week of military training.

After getting on the bus, Collazo threatened to drive with a gun and told the driver he didn’t want to hurt him, but wanted him to take him to a nearby town, then brought the children to the front of the bus, where they asked him if he wanted to hurt the driver or them. Collazo then let everyone get out of the car and drove alone for several kilometers, and finally failed to drive properly and left the car on its own, rifle in the school bus, wandering around when the police arrested.

The police described the incident as horrific, but fortunately the driver and the children were not injured, they said Collazo from New Jersey, quiet personality, at that time, I believe he wanted to go home, the school involved said, has provided psychological counseling for children.
