Austria shuts down a mosque and an Islamic community frequented by terrorist attackers.
Austria’s Integration Minister Susanne Raab told media on Friday that the government closed a mosque and an Islamic community frequented by the jihadist terrorists who killed four people in Vienna on Monday, both of which contributed to the attackers’ radicalization.
Kujtim Fejzulai, 20, was a resident of Vienna. He opened fire on bystanders and bars in Vienna on Monday, killing four people, before being shot dead by police minutes later. Austrian government authorities called Fejzulai an “Islamic terrorist”.
German police on Friday searched the homes and businesses of four people believed to be linked to the Vienna terror attackers. German police said German intelligence agencies discovered that the men from Germany had met with Fayzulay in the Austrian capital this summer and that Fayzulay was also trying to buy ammunition from Slovakia, which could have led to a “different result” if he had succeeded.
