IBM is the first to publish 2nm process technology, and computing speed is greatly accelerated

IBM 6 published 2 nanometer chip process technology, but the technology will not be put into production until the end of 2024.

Reuters reports, IBM published 2nm chip manufacturing technology, and claimed to be the world’s first example. IBM said the technology may be faster than the current mainstream 7nm process for notebooks and cell phones on 45%, power efficiency is also up to 75% higher.

Compared to the current state-of-the-art 5nm chip (currently only Apple iPhone 12 models and other high-end cell phones are used), the 2nm chip will be smaller and faster. 5nm will be followed by the next generation of 3nm chips.

However, IBM’s technology may take several years before products are launched in the market. IBM, once a major chip manufacturer, now outsources most of its production capacity to Samsung Electronics, but still retains a chip manufacturing research center in Albany, N.Y., to conduct chip testing. The company can use IBM’s chip manufacturing technology.
