Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will begin accepting applications for six new time-limited immigrants on Thursday, May 6, at 12 p.m. Eastern Time (ET).
On Wednesday (May 5) at 12 p.m., the IRCC will also release guidelines for this application.
According to information previously released to the public by the IRCC, a brief overview of the application process for Thursday regarding workers and international graduates working in Canada is provided.
Once applicants access the page on the application website, there will be an appropriate guidance process to help applicants, and applicants will be able to assess whether they qualify for the six major immigration categories.
Applicants will be required to complete several electronic forms, including the IMM0008 General Application Form. Applicants can submit their signatures electronically; they do not need to print the form and then sign it, and then scan and upload it.
Different immigration application categories will have different documents to complete and applicants will be prompted for the documents they need to upload.
Once the applicant has completed their application, they will be directed to select a blue “Submit Your Application” button. The IRCC will count each submission against the quota for each immigration category.
-Canadian Workers – Class A Health Care Practitioners (20,000 applications)
-Canadian workers – Class B non-healthcare practitioners (30,000 applications)
-International Graduates (40,000 applications)
Canadian Workers – Class A French-speaking Health Care Practitioners (no cap)
-Canadian workers -Class B French-speaking non-healthcare practitioners (no cap)
-French-speaking international graduates (no limit)
Some documents are required to be submitted by the applicant. However, the IRCC will provide assistance to applicants who are unable to submit certain documents. For example, applicants will need to provide the relevant vouchers to the IRCC to prove that you have completed a medical examination and are awaiting a police certificate of non-conviction. The IRCC recommends submitting a previous medical report if necessary.
The IRCC expects to be able to process a total of 40,000 applications for permanent residence by 2021. This means that most applicants can expect to be granted permanent residency status in Canada in 2022.
