Korean suppliers are becoming increasingly important for today’s Apple iPhone. In the iPhone 12, Korean components account for more than 27% of the share, while mainland China’s share is less than 5%.
Fomalhaut Technology Solutions, a Japanese research firm, conducted a split survey of the iPhone 12 released in October. The cost of the iPhone 12 was calculated to be $373 (about $2,449).
Of those countries, 27.3 percent are from South Korea and 13.2 percent are from Japan. Compared to the iPhone 11, South Korea is up 9.1 percentage points, while Japan is down 0.6 percentage points. The U.S. is at 25.6 percent, down 0.2 percentage points from the previous model.
As for Japanese companies, the cost price of CMOS systems made by Sony is estimated at $7.4 to $7.9 a unit. In the United States parts accounted for only second to South Korea, the more representative is Qualcomm continues to provide X55 baseband for the iPhone 12. And by the Sino-American technology war, mainland China made parts and components is less than 5% of the overall.
