Trump account can be unblocked? Facebook monitoring committee announced the final decision time point

Nearly four months after former U.S. President Donald Trump’s Facebook account was shut down by Facebook in January this year, a decision on whether the account will live or die will be made this week.

The official Facebook account was immediately shut down because the U.S. Congress was broken into by then-President Trump’s supporters on January 6, and Facebook claimed that Trump was inciting violence on the social media platform, and announced on January 21 that the Oversight Board would decide whether to permanently block Trump’s account.

The case of Trump’s Facebook account has received widespread attention, with some Republican senators and congressmen questioning Facebook’s standards and the independence of the Facebook Oversight Board, and the issue of the tech giant’s self-censorship of speech has once again come to the fore.

The Facebook Oversight Board (Oversight Board) said through Twitter that it will announce whether to restore Trump’s account at 9 a.m. EST on Wednesday (9 p.m. Taiwan time on Wednesday).
