Former Black Lives Matter leader: Hiding the truth about the murder of a youth in his apartment, now in custody pending trial

The Gateway Pundit reported on May 2 that a former Black Lives Matter leader in Iowa has been arrested for drug use and withholding information from police about the shooting death of a youth in his apartment.

Far-left activist Mazin Mohamedali, 20, of Iowa City, was a former leader of the Iowa Freedom Riders, a Black Lives Matter-related racial justice organization.

On Feb. 12, 19-year-old Quincy Russom was shot and killed in Mohamedali’s home, but Mohamedali waited a while to call the police.

Local television station KWWL reported, “On Feb. 24, Iowa City police executed a search warrant at Mohammadli’s apartment. Police found 56.13 grams of marijuana, as well as 42.5 ecstasy pills, in Mohammadli’s closet. Investigators also found an electronic scale with marijuana residue. Mohammadli faces charges of violating a controlled substance, failure to affix a drug stamp and a charge of opening a drug house.”

Police believe 19-year-old Lathom was killed in a suspicious robbery, but Mohammadli gave false accounts of those involved in the murder, lied during police questioning and withheld information that would have allowed police to find the killer more quickly. The criminal charges against him also say Mohammadli deleted his phone records and Snapchat app after the shooting.

Mohammadli was arrested during last summer’s Black Lives Matter riots, when far-left radicals tore down a $5,000 fence outside the Old Capitol Museum in Iowa, according to media reports. Mohammadli initially faced six charges, but eventually pleaded guilty only to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. Mohammadli is currently being held at the Henry County, Iowa, jail.
