Too dangerous! Beijing West Station tens of thousands of people were stranded, the reason is…

This year’s mainland May Day holiday is known as the most crowded in history, the first day of the holiday not only the major scenic spots crowded, there are tens of thousands of passengers stranded in Beijing West Station, sparking public discontent, even the mainland official media are directly accused of improper emergency management of the railroad sector. Beijing West Station apologized yesterday and explained that on May 1, affected by windy weather, the contact network between Dingzhou East and Baoding East of the Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway hung foreign objects, resulting in the late suspension of some trains.

The official media reported that a large number of passengers were stranded at Beijing West Station, the busiest station in Beijing, since noon on May 1 because of the wind affecting the power supply of the Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway (Beijing-Guangzhou), and then the south entrance of the south square was suddenly closed, so a large number of passengers missed other trains and were stranded in the square.

Photos circulated on the Internet showed that the south square of Beijing West Station was jammed with people, making it difficult to move around. Some passengers complained on WeChat friends circle, microblogging and other social platforms that the station authorities did not issue any notice, the staff on site did not know anything, only individual staff shouted “no entry” with loudspeakers at the entrance, not to mention no guidance, leaving passengers waiting in the square with large bags, and eventually missed their trains until the early morning.

Some people also complained that the long-planned May Day holiday had turned into a “half-day trip to Beijing West Station”, and that “the holiday was ruined at Beijing West Station”.

The Beijing West Railway Station did not announce the delayed train schedules on Weibo until late in the day. Passengers were extremely dissatisfied with the low emergency response capability, lack of service consciousness, backward management methods and poor infrastructure performance of Beijing West Station, spitting out the word “Beijing” for Beijing West Station.

According to the railroad department, the train was delayed because of the high winds in Dingzhou City, Hebei Province, which blew the mulch used by farmers to cover their farmland near the railway track, causing the contact network to fail. Beijing Railway Public Security Bureau Shijiazhuang Public Security Department has seized fifty-seven-year-old Zhao surnamed farmland users near the line, is under investigation.

According to the official notification, the crowd has been evacuated in the evening of one day. However, eight trains were still out of service yesterday.
