More than 9,000 Americans vaccinated against the disease and 132 died

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as of April 16, 2021, more than nine thousand Americans had contracted the disease after being vaccinated and 132 had died. (Shutterstock)

Some people vaccinated against the Chinese communist virus (Wuhan pneumonia) may also become reinfected as so-called breakthrough cases. The number of such cases recorded in the U.S. has now climbed to more than 9,000, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The health agency reported that as of April 16, 9,245 people had tested positive for the virus for at least two weeks after being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, a disease caused by the Chinese Communist virus.

Of these, approximately 9% or 835 required hospitalization and 132 died.

Of the hospitalized patients, 241 reportedly showed no symptoms or had CCP virus-related illnesses, while 20 of the deceased were also reported to be asymptomatic or suffering from infectious disease-related illnesses.

These numbers come from 46 U.S. states and territories. It is unclear which four additional states have not submitted breakthrough case numbers to the CDC.

These numbers are underestimated because the CDC’s surveillance system only passively accepts reports voluntarily submitted up by state health departments.

“These surveillance data are just a snapshot to help identify patterns and look for signals in vaccine breakthrough cases. the CDC and state health departments have shifted to focus only on investigating vaccine breakthrough cases that result in hospitalization or death, and these data will be updated regularly and published every Friday.” The agency said in a statement.

The CDC said the vaccine is still effective and noted that breakthrough cases represent only a small percentage of vaccine recipients.

A breakthrough case means a person is still infected with the coronavirus (CDC virus) two weeks or more after the last dose of vaccine. Two of the three vaccines currently licensed in the United States require two doses.

Clinical trials reviewed by drug regulators show that Pfizer’s vaccine is 95 percent effective in preventing infection with the CCHV; Moderna’s vaccine is 94 percent effective, and Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine is 66.9 percent effective.

Unlike the other companies, Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine was tested after the CCP variant began spreading.

As of Friday (April 30), more than 100 million Americans had been fully vaccinated against the CCP virus. Complete vaccination means two doses of Pfizer or Modena vaccine or a single dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Also on Friday, the number of adverse events reported to the Passive Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) was updated to more than 133,000.

Federal authorities are encouraging people to submit reports to the system, which has now received 3,607 reports of deaths after vaccination.

Another 2,527 life-threatening cases have been recorded; more than 1,600 cases of permanent disability, and nearly 8,500 patients requiring hospitalization.

The CDC says on its website, “VAERS did not find a pattern of causes of death that would indicate a safety issue with the COVID-19 vaccine.”

CDC physicians reviewed each death report with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulators.

In an April 27 statement, the CDC said, “A review of available clinical information, including death certificates, autopsies and medical records, showed no evidence that the vaccine caused the patient’s death.”
