The AFP reported that on August 18 last year, the Markley wildfire broke out in Solano County, northern California, and police found the body of a 32-year-old missing person, Castro (Priscilla Castro), who had an appointment with Serriteno (Victor Serriteno) two days before the fire, and then disappeared.

Solano County police said on the 28th that based on an extensive 8-month-long investigation, “we believe Serriteno intentionally set the Markley fire to cover up his crime.”

Cerriteno was arrested last September and charged with killing Castro, and now faces arson charges, as well as 2 other murders of people who died in the fire-damaged home.

According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the Markley wildfire later merged with a series of other wildfires to form the LNU Lightning Complex Fire, one of the largest wildfires in California history.
