Electric car giant Tesla is just one step away from being the “darling” of the Chinese Communist Party to being a target! What is Beijing’s intention? Stealing Musk’s electric car technology, or SpaceX technology? Musk has to remember, you technology is no more black, but also not as black as the people there, it is better to leave early, and perhaps leave a whole body.
Biden is looking to Trump! The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative released its 301 report, putting China on the key watch list for the 17th consecutive year.
Thunderbolt! Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines, the three major airlines, had a huge loss of 37 billion in 2020 and another huge loss of 14 billion in the first quarter of this year. But the real loss king is *ST HNA, with a net loss of RMB 64 billion last year, a loss of 175 million per day.
ST HNA’s parent company, Continental HNA Group, is even more bullish, with its 13 subsidiaries losing a total of RMB 94.7 billion. The taxpayers’ hard-earned money was just wasted.
Some people laugh and some people cry! The Chinese Communist Party raised it high and dropped it gently, and Tencent was fined only 1 million. Huawei’s high-end cell phone market was snatched up by Apple, and the middle and low-end was dominated by Xiaomi and OPPO.
Corn prices soared wheat into feed, global trade flows change.
Tesla “falls out of favor” and becomes a target, what is Beijing’s intention?
From being the only foreign darling with a wholly-owned factory in China to being the target of Communist Party officials and the official media, Tesla’s recent experience in China has raised concerns among industry and commentators.
Miles Yu, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, summarized to VOA the CCP’s overall approach to foreign investment, especially those with key technologies and proprietary innovations: “It’s a “‘bait and switch,’ i.e., luring you into China with initial tax incentives and regulatory measures; once hooked and having achieved initial success in China, the CCP does not hesitate to use its investments in China as a lever to directly or subtly force them to comply with a set of requirements.”
This is pretty much the blueprint for Tesla’s development in China.
In 2018, Tesla was approved to build a factory in Shanghai, making it the largest foreign-owned manufacturing project in the city. Receiving a range of incentives, Tesla’s revenue in China grew 124 percent year-over-year in 2020, with sales exceeding 137,000 units and reaching $6.6 billion in sales.
Just as Tesla was moving toward its goal of producing 500,000 cars a year, a “twist” came.
First, the Chinese army banned Tesla cars from military barracks and family quarters, and then the female Tesla owner caused a scene at the Shanghai Auto Show. The Communist Party’s official media also began to fan the flames, criticizing Tesla’s “lack of sincerity” and calling its executives “domineering presidents.
Robert Spalding, a former U.S. Air Force brigadier general and senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, said the Tesla case is the same script the Chinese Communist Party has used many times.
In the face of overwhelming Chinese media criticism, Tesla has reversed its usual tough PR stance in China. First Tesla CEO Musk stated to China that Tesla would not engage in espionage or the company would be shut down.
Now Tesla is claiming that it “apologizes and self-reviews” and “is cooperating with the regulatory investigation,” with some commentators saying that Musk is increasingly resembling the tone of Jack Ma these days.
According to Zach Cooper, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, Tesla’s “softening up” is a common phenomenon for private companies operating in China, with the local “Alibaba and Jack Ma not immune. “To make a significant impact in the Chinese market …… must make and support a political statement (of the Chinese Communist Party). This is a serious problem.”
Musk’s aviation technology may be the ultimate goal
Yu Maochun believes that the CCP is targeting Tesla at this point in time, “no doubt to squeeze American companies through officially controlled anti-American xenophobic public opinion and psychology.” Yu notes that this is being done for a variety of reasons, including “Tesla’s phenomenal success in China, its advanced technology and its close involvement in the U.S. space program.”
Spalding said, “I’m very concerned that SpaceX will eventually be controlled by the Chinese Communist Party.” “The Chinese Communist Party is always looking for opportunities to influence something, to seek leverage. For Tesla, that’s the share price.”
“(Tesla’s) stock price depends heavily on sales in China, so the CCP knows they can influence Tesla by putting risk on the stock price.” In this case, “Tesla has no choice and will do what the Chinese Communist Party wants it to do.”
According to Yu Maochun, the CCP’s wishes include “sharing proprietary technology and knowledge, prohibiting the movement of funds out of China, limiting Tesla’s market share in China, and potentially requiring the company to reveal national security secrets in other business with the U.S. government (such as SpaceX).”
Shen Yan: Tesla you’d better go, I cried after reading your Note
On April 28, Tesla’s official account released the “Communication Progress and Event Explanation about Shanghai Auto Show ‘Rights’ Ms. Zhang”.
Current affairs commentator Shen Yan wrote, after reading the statement, I am full of shame, painful thought only want to say to Tesla: you better go, heartache your encounter, we are also powerless.
You are not a brake failure, you are a brake too good.
You are not condescending, you are under the hedge.
You are not a store bully, you are a dog bully; you are a tiger in the sun.
You are not arrogant and rude, you are a phoenix in the water is not as good as a chicken.
You are not struggling with Ms. Zhang’s family.
You are not fighting with a group of hungry wolves who want to fill their gullies.
You are wrestling with this piece of earth and this sky.
You will not be happy.
You will only be miserable and end up in a bad way.
In Guo’s words, the person who wronged you knows more about the wrong you have suffered than you do.
In my last article I was silently worried about Musk: “If your technology is darker, it’s not as dark as the people here”. Now I must add one more worry for Musk: what is more black than the people here is this piece of land, its name is black land.
Tesla, Tesla, what else can I say to you? Turn the page, all your negative news. Either you lost control of the direction today, or the brakes failed yesterday. Not rear-ended, or crashed into the street store; not on the highway is strictly prohibited, is looking for you from all sides to return the money. Other new energy giants have nothing negative. Do you still do not see it?
Tesla, you’d better go!
We are a land that only allows desire, not ideals. You can come to get rich, you can come to pick up girls, you can come to get drunk every day in a group of virgins stepping on the curve brewed sauce can be, but you say “at any point in time to give consumers the best price and the best products” absolutely not.
Why is this absolutely not allowed? Because, you are cutting off people’s money, which is equivalent to killing parents and raping their wives and daughters. Our new energy giants here have a lot of dry shares, these hands of dry shares of godfather, godfather and godfather how can spare you?
Tesla, you’d better go, go now although the loss is great, but at least you can still stay a whole body. A little later, you will have to hand over the source code and technology library password, then you will not have the opportunity to cry and kneel down.
Musk, you’d better go, those who know me are my worries, those who don’t know me are what I want. Don’t think you can go to Mars and the moon, we are not rare here, our people here as early as 94 years ago with a brush to achieve the “nine days to the moon and five oceans to catch the turtle”.
Musk, you’d better go, take your Tesla away, we can not help you, do not think you are now the world’s richest will give you face. Last post I quoted a small poem by Pushkin to end for you, this post I still use another small poem by Pushkin to bid you farewell.
Gold says: Everything is mine
The sword says: Everything is mine
Gold proudly says: I can buy everything
The sword said with contempt: I can take everything
