In the first quarter of 2021 alone, police across Vietnam found 1,400 smuggling cases in three months, with a total of more than 8,000 people smuggled into the country, said the Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Public Security.
Speaking at a meeting on epidemic prevention and control in Ho Chi Minh City on April 28, Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Thanh Son said that smuggling cases have become a key and difficult task in Vietnam’s epidemic prevention and control work, and the frequent occurrence of smuggling has greatly increased the pressure of epidemic prevention and control work in various regions.
Just in the previous month alone, 108 people were smuggled into Vietnam, 104 of whom were Chinese.
Vice Minister Nguyen Thanh Thanh said that localities should increase inspection efforts, especially in border areas, and while increasing investigation and punishment, they should widely inform border people that they should not organize illegal smuggling or harbor smuggling.
In order to better prevent and control the epidemic, the police and relevant departments will increase the investigation and punishment, and punish the smuggling behavior and the organization of smuggling strictly.
So many cases of smuggling, with the majority of Chinese, so why exactly do they want to smuggle? Is Vietnam really so fragrant?
In recent years, Vietnam’s rapid economic development, so many people to Vietnam to go “gold”, some people working in Vietnam, some people to Vietnam to do some small business.
Once the epidemic broke out, many people could not return to China, or could not go to Vietnam from home to work, if the regular visa need to isolate 21 days, the cost of their own. A series of quarantine + visa is at least 20,000 to 30,000 more than the cost. In order to save money so many people choose to smuggle.
In addition, the epidemic hit hard, it is not easy to find work in the country, many people on balance or intend to go to Vietnam.
As the saying goes, there is a need, there is a market, in such a situation, some unscrupulous elements on both sides of China and Vietnam began to form a “smuggling industry chain”. There are smuggling by boat across the river, there are smuggling through the mountains and forests. From last year to now, the border guards of both China and Vietnam have dealt with many cases of smuggling, but it is still repeatedly prohibited.
In fact, from the epidemic to the present, there are not a few Vietnamese smuggled into China, and the reasons for smuggling are not much different from those for Chinese people to Vietnam.
Although many cases of smuggling are forced by life, no matter what kind of suffering there is, it should not be a reason to break the law, especially now that the epidemic is underway, citizens of either country should obey the law, not to add to the country’s chaos, not to add to the burden of epidemic prevention and control.
