South Korean President Moon Jae-in’s poll drops below 30% for the first time since his inauguration, reaching a new low

Yonhap News Agency reported that South Korean pollster Gallup South Korea released a survey on April 30, showing that President Moon Jae-in’s approval rating fell to 29%, the first time his approval rating fell below 30% since his inauguration.

The survey was conducted by Gallup from April 27 to 29, targeting 1,000 people over 18 years old in South Korea, and the approval rating of Moon Jae-in was 29%, down two percentage points from the previous week. In addition, the poll showed that Moon’s disapproval rating was 60%, while another 11% of respondents had reservations. In fact, Moon’s approval rating has been declining from 40% since the first week of March.

The reasons for disapproval include 28% of the respondents are not satisfied with Moon’s performance in real estate policy, 17% think the epidemic prevention policy is not in place, and 9% think Moon is not effective in solving economic and livelihood issues.

In addition, only 29% of respondents in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, are satisfied with Moon’s performance, while as many as 61% are not. In terms of age group, Moon’s approval rating is the lowest among respondents in their 20s, with only 21%.
