Mother-in-law does not help bring up children, daughter-in-law put rat poison in stir-fry, hot water bottle filled with sulfuric acid

A daughter-in-law in Chongren County, Jiangxi Province, was sentenced to four years in prison because her mother-in-law lived in her home but did not help with the children.

The 44-year-old woman surnamed Kwong’s husband has been working outside the home, she lives in the countryside with her children and mother-in-law, but the two sides eat separately. One day in early October last year, Kwong took advantage of her mother-in-law’s inattention to add rat poison she had bought to fried lentil pods, which she consumed without noticing. A few days later, Kwong poured red water-based rat poison into her mother-in-law’s pork heart that she had placed in the refrigerator, but she did not eat it.

Subsequently, Kwong saw a video about sulfuric acid on “Shake” and thought that the rodenticide was less toxic than sulfuric acid, so she bought a bottle of sulfuric acid and poured it into her mother-in-law’s hot water bottle, and she felt her tongue tingling after drinking it, and her mouth was bleeding more than once the next day before she realized she had been poisoned and immediately sought medical attention and called the police.

The police investigation found that Kwong’s motive for the crime was actually because her mother-in-law was unwilling to help with the children, after the forensic identification center, the mother-in-law’s blood was detected rat poison ingredients, the degree of human injury for the second degree of minor injuries.

Kwong did not admit to committing the crime at first, but later, because of sufficient evidence, finally admitted to the crime, the first trial was sentenced to four years in prison for intentional homicide.
