Breitbart News reported on April 26 that secret recordings of Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif obtained by New Times indicate that former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry told Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif after he left office that Israel had carried out at least 200 covert strikes against Iranian targets in Syria. The Iranian foreign minister was “shocked” by this.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh effectively confirmed the authenticity of the leaked tapes. During the recording, Zarif repeatedly mentioned that the interview was never intended for publication.
The recording, described by New Times as “a conversation between Mr. Zarif and an economist named Saeed Leylaz in March,” was first leaked to the anti-Iranian Persian-language news channel Iran International, which is based in Britain and owned by the Saudis.
The recording suggests that Zarif and others within the Iranian regime may have been privately pleased that the United States killed terrorist General Qasem Soleimani, the leader of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, last year. The attack on Soleimani was widely criticized at the time by U.S. Democrats, including Biden.
John Kerry served as U.S. secretary of state during Obama’s second term, leading the Iran nuclear deal, and Kerry currently serves as Biden’s special climate envoy.
White House Press Secretary Leonardo Psaki’s response to the revelation was, “We’re not going to comment on the leaked tapes.” The Gateway Pundit believes that this is the Biden regime’s attitude toward the treasonous Kerry, refusing to comment. So much for transparency in the Biden administration!
